Directing
“I remember my first agent telling me – because they found me as an actor, but I was … interested in writing and … directing – they were like, ‘Well, you can’t do both things.’ And I was like, ‘I’m gonna show you.'” - Chadwick Boseman

Writing
“I’m an artist. Artists don’t need permission to work. Regardless of whether I’m acting or not, I write. I write when I’m tired in fact, because I believe your most pure thoughts surface.” - Chadwick Boseman
I’ve always had a love for writing; first from an academic approach, churning out countless essays for the mere satisfaction of a “grade”. However, as I began to allow myself to explore and write freely — unbound from a need to please anyone but a genuine desire to communicate a story — I found a passion for creative writing, specifically screenwriting, poetry, and every so often, an extremely long winded text.
This past semester, I directed an original short film of my own, Branch Out. Not only was this my film directorial debut, but my first time having an original written work, fully produced to be shared with a larger audience. I’m beyond excited for this project to be released.
